The photos failed from this shoot, but I quite liked this one so I thought I'd stick it in anyways.

New Year; New Start
Happy New Year!
I'm not quite sure what impulsed me to create this, but you know I like a bit of experimentation! I guess it's really quite ironic.

A Beauty of a Blog - NOTD Blog
Whilst I was browsing through the Illamasqua Blog I came across amazingly creative contest entry for their Mizz Worthy/ London Muse Art of Darkness Contest, I clicked on the lick and realised I'd found a beauty of a blog. This blog would belong Nat, she creates amazing nail art and makeup looks, encorporating feathers and that little bit of sparkle (I think you can see why I love it!), her blog is a true inspiration and she owns fabulous talents that I'm sure you'll all appriciate, she needs so much more a recognition! So lets here what she has to say!
Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi I'm Natalie a freelance nail tech. I'm quite new to the field so I still have another job too, but I'm hoping to make nails and makeup my full time career very soon. I've been into this sort of stuff ever since I can remember...when I was a kid I used to spend hours tracing the faces from the front of my Mums catalogues, then I'd create makeup looks on the tracings. My Mum and Dad would take the pictures and proudly show them to people when they came round, bless em. Little did I know I'd be doing virtually the same thing 20 years on and trying to make a living from it. I guess blogging is just a more grown up way of doing exactly the same thing. For the most part though my background is in Art and Interior Design, and I guess I try to approach what I do now in a very similar way, the body is just another type of canvas. I still like to apply pattern and texture, and often include 3-D pieces and replicate things I've learnt studying interiors. This is much more fun though...
Look at how incredible her enrty is?!
Where do you gain your inspiration for your nail art and makeup looks?
My inspiration comes from everywhere and everything. I find it really hard to concentrate sometimes as I see patterns and textures and colour combo's everywhere. I'm always thinking about how I can turn what I see into a new look or a new nail design. I guess though my ultimate inspiration, and the starting point for all this came from my mum and my sister. I used to sit for hours with my Mum and watch as she applied her makeup, she's beautiful and I was always so fascinated. I'd look through old pictures of her through the decades and notice how her makeup and hair changed, the sixties, the seventies...Then came the eighties! My sister was in her late teens during the eighties and that to me as a young girl was just amazing. The makeup, the hair, the fashion, the colours. It was inspiration overload. I guess thats where it all started. Now I gain my inspiration from other Nail techs, MUA's, Fashion Designers, Artists and Bloggers. I'll often take bits of things I see and put them together with my own twist.
How are you enjoying blogging and where do you hope it takes you?
I really love blogging, it's great to have a creative outlet. It makes me feel like what I do has a purpose and it motivates me to push myself and try new things. I've never really thought about where it will take me, I'm still really new to the whole thing. As I've said, I'd love to someday make a career out of what I do (who wouldn't right?) and hopefully winning the Illamasqua competiton and a spot at London Muse will be a great start. That's something that wouldn't of happened if I hadn't started my blog. For now though I'm just happy posting looks.
What can we see in the future for NOTD Blog?
Hopefully some posts haha! No seriously, I've had a few problems with my computer lately so the posts have been few and far between, but I've got a brand spanking new one to play with now so I'm back in business. I've got some posts coming up inspired by music videos and some fantasy Christmas looks too. I'd love to get some input from followers aswell, if anyones got anything they particularly want to see I'll happily give it a try.
Thank you Nat for a lovely interview! I very pleased to have found this blog, and I hope you hop, skip and jump over to NOTDblog.blogspot.com!
